WEST WARWICK, RI – August 1, 2011 -- QuickLabel Systems, a brand of Astro-Med, Inc. (NASDAQ:ALOT), recently released a video that depicts how the Vivo! digital color label printer has made a powerful two-fold impression on EXACTA Dental Direct. By printing labels with the Vivo!, EXACTA has cut label costs by a significant percentage for its line of restorative dental products while enjoying the flexibility to print color labels in short run batches for their wide variety of products. The new video can be viewed on the QuickLabel Systems website, blog, or on QuickLabel’s YouTube channel at Youtube.com/QuickLabel.
After analyzing their labeling costs, EXACTA Dental Direct Operations Director, Chase Wade, saw that his company was spending a large portion of its packaging budget to buy pre-printed labels. Because EXACTA produces a large number of product variations, it was buying multiple labels in large quantities, storing them in inventory, and sometimes not using all of its labels.
Wade researched labeling alternatives by talking with other companies and searching the internet, and found QuickLabel Systems website and the Vivo! short run label printer. He analyzed the total cost of ownership of the Vivo! label printer, including the cost of its printing supplies (labels and toner). He determined that, compared to the pre-printed labels they were buying from a commercial label printer, they would be saving a dime per label.
“Previously we had to inventory a large supply of labels for all the different variants. Now, with the Vivo! system, we can run off exactly what we need, when we need it,” said Wade.
“The Vivo! has saved us tens of thousands of dollars over the past 2 or 3 years because we are able to run short supplies of the labels we need rather than having to purchase them from a commercial printer in fairly large minimum order quantities,” said Wade. EXACTA uses the Vivo! to print an average of 20,000 labels each week to satisfy their wide variety of packaging needs, from labeling bottles, impression cartridges, and exterior boxes to making product sample labels.
Wade also shared his belief that the colorful Vivo!-printed labels have allowed their product to “stand apart on the shelf.” By using the Vivo! to print “a well-designed, colorful, bright label, we’re able to capture the attention a little bit more than the standard plain white labels other companies use,” said Wade.
“When going out and speaking to potential new customers and sampling those customers, it’s great to have products that have been packaged by Vivo! labels … and if it helps us get into the door of a dental practice, then it’s another immeasurable way of how the Vivo! printer has improved our business opportunities,” said Wade.
The Vivo! Touch color label printer is perfect for manufacturers who can cut costs and make more money by printing color labels in flexible, short-run batches. You can see the Vivo! Touch for yourself at the upcoming Pack Expo Las Vegas Show September 26-28, 2011 in booth #1707, Central Hall.
