Touch color label printer has helped Spangler Candy Company launch a successful personalized lollipop labeling program for their line of family-favorite Saf-T-Pop lollipops, the “lollipop with the loop handle.” By printing personalized lollipop labels for Saf-T-Pops with the Vivo! Touch, Spangler Candy has been able to open new avenues for sales and its product portfolio of Saf-T-Pop® lollipops, DumDum® lollipops, Spangler Circus Peanuts®, and Spangler® Candy Canes. Spangler Candy produces over 500,000 Saf-T-Pops per day on its high-volume packaging lines, but wanted to add personalized packaging to smaller orders of its famous Saf-T-Pop lollipops. Spangler VP of Marketing Jim Knight knew that, with existing packaging line volumes, it would be too costly to break into them in order to label smaller orders of Saf-T-Pops with personalized labels. “Customers were requesting personalized pops, but with our high manufacturing lines we just weren’t able to break into those lines and run customized labels for smaller orders,” said Knight.
Spangler found a solution to this packaging challenge when it discovered the Vivo! Touch digital color label printer. Now, the Vivo! Touch gives Spangler the flexibility to print customized Saf-T-Pop lollipop labels in short runs without having to interrupt its main packaging lines. “The Vivo! Touch has been very helpful to us in breaking into shorter runs,” said Knight.
The addition of the Vivo! Touch has allowed Spangler to enter into a new market for candy and confections – personalized and customized lollipops. Personalization has become a popular trend, and Spangler has been able to use the Vivo! Touch to make personalized Saf-T-Pops that reach new customers and open new avenues for sales.
“Customized candy is a trend right now,” explained Knight, “and we’re excited to be a part of that trend. With the Vivo! Touch, we’re able to print the label and apply it in a separate facility - it allows us to have a side operation where we can customize for the consumer. With the Vivo! Touch color label printer, we’re able to reach a market that we’d not been able to reach before.”
Personalized Saf-T-Pop lollipops are popular with families who want personalized party favors for special parties or events such as new baby announcements, birthday parties, or anniversaries.
