Introducing our West Coast Media Specialist

Being new here at QuickLabel has been so wonderful, mostly because all of the great people I’ve had the opportunity to get to meet. I’m so excited to take the time and introduce you to our West Coast Media Specialist, Melody Allen. She is my fellow tea drinker in the office and a very interesting woman. Melody began working here at the beginning of 2001 as a Media Product Specialist, and also has worked as the Administrative Staff Supervisor. So, she definitely knows her stuff!

We asked Melody to answer a few questions for us to share with you, and we are really excited that some of our West Coast customers can get a chance to know a bit about the voice on the other end of the phone. She is very committed to helping our customers, and even shifted her schedule recently to better accommodate their Pacific Time Zone hours. Despite staying late every night (until 7PM Eastern, and beyond!), I notice she always comes into the office cheerful and energetic before some of her customer’s alarm clocks have even gone off.

QuickLabel: What is your favorite part about being a Media Specialist?
Melody Allen: Having a territory of accounts and customers from different industries to work with and learning their applications and labeling/media needs. Also, working as a team with the rest of the Media Specialists in my group in learning and sharing/collaborating different and similar media information on accounts in each of our territories as well.

QL: Which do you prefer, coffee or tea? Why?
MA: I prefer tea. I like tea because it is not only healthier to drink, but there are a lot of different flavors of teas to choose from and you can have tea as a white, green, red, or black tea. I like mostly black teas and my favorite black tea is Darjeeling. For a flavored black tea I like the Vanilla Hazelnut and the Vanilla Maple flavored teas, or any flavored black tea with a Vanilla flavor. I like most fruit flavored herbal teas too (Lemon Verbena, Peach, and Black Cherry).

QL: How do you like working your new “West Coast Hours”?
MA: The time schedule is better suited for me to contact my accounts on the West Coast instead of playing phone tag because of the 3 hour time difference, and customers can still contact me later in the day. It keeps me on a more consistent schedule with my work as well. I can also do a few things in the morning before I come in.

QL: What is the best part about serving customers in the Western USA?
MA: It’s nice to know what’s happening on the other end of the states and hear how customers and their businesses are doing on the West coast as there are both similar and different industries on the West coast too (i.e. wine companies and other medical companies).

QL: What are your favorite things to do when you’re not at work?
MA: Sewing and working on sewing projects, teaching sewing, making crafts (floral craft making, lace, ribbon, and paper craft making, and other craft making projects), reading, listening to good music, walking, taking day trips on the weekends when I can fit them into my schedule (going to Newport, or somewhere else in New England or New York).

QL: What is something you’d like all of your customers to know about you or about QuickLabel Systems?                                                                         MA:I also do oil painting. Although I haven’t done it in a while because I’ve my busy schedule, but I’m hoping to start doing it again in the near future.

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about the wonderful Melody. If you’d like to reach her to say hello or to order labels, toners, inks, or thermal transfer ribbons, just e-mail mallen@astromed.com or phone 877-757-7978 ext. 368.

I aspire to interview many more of the great people here and let you get to know them as I do. Feel free to comment with any questions about Melody or QuickLabel Systems.  After all, we love to hear from YOU!
